Wanda Ervin, 87, of Hoopeston, passed away at 2:10 a.m. Monday, August 7, 2017, at Heritage Health, in Hoopeston.
Wanda was born on February 27, 1930, in Danville, the daughter of Virgil and Clara (Kester) Goble. She married Donald Dean Ervin on January 15, 1950, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, in Danville. He preceded her in death on August 22, 2012.
She is survived by three sons- Dave (Charlene) Ervin of Hoopeston, Randy (Sharon) Ervin of Dewey and Ron (Betty) Ervin of Littleton, Colorado; four daughters- Patti (Paul) Ziemnisky of Cheneyville, Karen (Russ) Rudd of Hoopeston, Sharon Boardman of Chandler, Arizona and Julie (Bob) Burd of Watseka; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; fourteen great-great grandchildren; two sisters- Virginia Contas and Wilma West both of Danville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter- Susan Ervin, two brothers and one sister.
Wanda graduated from Oakwood High School. She spent most of her time as a homemaker but she really enjoyed her time working at Schulers' Greenhouse. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where she served as Sunday school teacher. She also volunteered at the Grant Township Food Pantry and as an Election Judge. She was a member of the Hoopeston Garden Club, and enjoyed playing Scrabble with her friends. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and spending time with her family.
A Celebration of Wanda Ervin's Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2017, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, in Hoopeston, with Pastor Jake Callahan officiating. Burial will follow the service in Floral Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday at the church. Memorials may be made in Wanda's name to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or to Grant Township Food Pantry.
