Betty Lockhart

Betty O. Lockhart, 94, of Hoopeston, Illinois, passed away at 1:49 a.m. on May 2, 2018, at Autumn Fields in Hoopeston, Illinois.

Betty grew up in Wellington, Illinois and raised her family in Bloomington, Illinois. She then lived in Tampa, Florida for many years and in Naples Florida, from 1996 to 2017, before coming home to Hoopeston this past Thanksgiving.

She was married to Lyle W. Leverenz, who preceded her in death in 1988. She later married Robert M. Lockhart, who also preceded her in death in 2011.

She leaves behind one son-Kim(Judy) Leverenz of Portales, New Mexico; one daughter in law- Nancy Leverenz of Hudson, Illinois; one son in law- Jim Hedrick of Champaign, Illinois; step-brother- Marvin Anderson of Alvin, Illinois; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces and nephews including Jackie Leverenz of Hoopeston, who has been by her side often since her move; two step- daughters- Lee Ann Lockhart of Woodworth and Viki Hart of Colorado Springs; step -granddaughters; step -great grandchildren and step -great great granddaughter.

She was also preceded in death by her mother- Hazel Anderson and step -father Sexton Anderson, daughter-Cheryl Hedrick and two sons- Terry W. Leverenz and Richard “Rick” Leverenz; step -son- Robert Lockhart.

She was a member of the Wellington Methodist Church and graduated from Wellington High School in 1942.

Betty enjoyed cooking, golfing, craft work, jigsaw puzzles and bingo. She belonged to the Royalwood Golf and Country Club, in Naples, Florida, where she enjoyed playing golf in the league.

Graveside service will be held on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Floral Hill Cemetery, Hoopeston, Illinois, with Pastor Cathy Najmon officiating.
