Carlyle V. Alexander

March 10, 1924 ~ December 29, 2017 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Carlyle V. Alexander, 93, of Danville, formerly of Goodwine, passed away at 3:50 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2017, at the Hawthorne Inn, in Danville.

Mr. Alexander was born on March 10, 1924, in Claytonville, Illinois, the son of Jesse and Rosa (Carman) Alexander.  He married Joyce Lewis on September 9, 1977, in Danville.  She survives.

He is also survived by his three children- Susan (Robin) Bolton of Portland, Oregon, Clayton (Tammy) Alexander of Goodwine and Carol (Darrell) Alexander Hill of Phoenix, Arizona; three step-children- Lyn (Mike) Abney, Scott (Jane) Larsen and Lance Larsen; five grandchildren- Melissa, Kari, Cassie (Dan), Mattie and Kyle; and his former wife- Doris Alexander.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son- Daniel Alexander, granddaughter- Jessica Stebbins, brother- Lewis Alexander, two sisters- Phyllis Monroe and Dorothy Barber and one infant great-grandson- Maxwell McDougal.

Carlyle was a lifelong member of the Goodwine Methodist Church.  He graduated from Cissna Park High School, in 1942 and was a charter member of the Cissna Park Future Farmers of the America.  He was an active farmer in the Goodwine area for most of his life.  He was a member of the Farm Bureau Board for twelve years and the Soybean Boosters for ten years.  He also was a member of the Rural Youth Organization and the Bryce Ashgrove School Board. 

A Celebration of Mr. Alexander’s Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston, with Pastor Brent Zathrow officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  He will be laid to rest in Floral Hill Cemetery following the services.  Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Mr. Alexander’s life.  Memories and condolences may be sent to the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.blurtonfuneralhomes.com.
