Carolyn S. Howie, 68, of Potomac, passed away at 4:28 p.m. Sunday, August 27, 2017, at Carle Foundation Hospital, in Urbana, with her friends and family by her side.
Carolyn was born on February 13, 1949, in Danville, the daughter of Eldon D. and June I. (Pruitt) Larkin. She married John Howie on April 7, 1968, in Potomac. He survives.
She is also survived by her mother- June Larkin of Danville; son- Mike (Tracie Hunt) Howie of Potomac; three grandchildren- Cole, Casy and Camryn Howie; brother- Larry (Cynthia) Larkin of Danville; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father Eldon Larkin on March 8, 2017.
Carolyn graduated from Potomac High School. She worked at Goodwine State Bank, in Potomac, for over 20 years. She later worked at Bell Sports and Walgreen's Accounting, in Danville, until her retirement in 2010. Carolyn also served at the Middlefork Township Treasurer, for over 20 years. She was a member of the Potomac Church of the Nazarene. She also served on the Potomac Public Library board and was a past School Board member. Carolyn loved being involved in her community and also taking pictures. She also enjoyed going on vacations with John to South Dakota each year. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 Friday, September 1, 2017, at the Potomac Cemetery, with Pastor Randy Holden officiating. Memorials may be made to the Potomac Church of the Nazarene. The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Carolyn's life.
