Deborah Lee May

Deborah Lee May, 60, of Hoopeston, passed away peacefully, following a courageous year long battle with brain cancer, at 5:52 P.M Saturday, June 30, 2018, at her home surrounded by loved ones.

Deborah was born on November 6, 1957, in Presque Isle, Maine, the daughter of Dallas Rae and Sharon (Johnson) Bowlin. Married in 1982 to Delmar Ralph May, together they lived a very adventurous and fulfilled life. After years of self employment, Deborah returned to college at age 54 to continue her education. In 2012 she became a Certified Nursing Assistant where she worked at Heritage Health in Hoopeston IL, up to the day she was diagnosed. Deborah will always be remembered as a very loving and compassionate individual. Days preceding Deborah’s transition, one of her most valued pieces of advise to her three daughters was “to always love each other and to always flush the toilet when finished.” Her sense of humor could always lighten the moment.

She’s survived by three daughters- Heather Hughes, Tracy Brandriff and April Fivecoat of Hoopeston; sister- Connie Burnett of Champaign; aunt- Donna “Jeanie” Harpst of Fisher; four grandchildren; one great granddaughter on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

According to her wishes cremation will be accorded. There will be a celebration of life at a later date. Memorials will be made to the Mills Cancer Center in Champaign.
