Eric Longest

Eric Longest, 52, of Hoopeston, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, December 24, 2017, at Carle Foundation Hospital, in Urbana.

Eric was born on January 21, 1965, in Danville, Illinois, the son of Ronald and Janet (Pierce) Longest. 

He is survived by his mother- Janet Longest of Hoopeston.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, father- Ronald Longest, infant brother- Ronald Eugene Longest Jr. and two infant sisters- Kimberly Dawn Longest and Elaine Faith Longest. 

Eric graduated from Rankin High School with high honors, in 1983.  After high school, he served in the United States Navy.   He was a member of First Christian Church in Hoopeston.  Eric was an Eagle Scout and he enjoyed collecting antique trucks and horses.

A Celebration of Eric Longest’s Life will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2017, at Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston, with Pastor Tom Cici officiating.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.  He will be laid to rest in Floral Hill Cemetery, with full military honors conducted by the Hoopeston American Legion.  Memorials may be made to the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Eric’s life.  Memories or condolences may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at:   www.blurtonfuneralhomes.com.
