Georgia "Jo" Betka

Georgia "Jo" Betka, 92, of Champaign, Illinois, formerly of Hoopeston, passed away at 11:24 a.m. Tues-day, November 1, 2016, at Heartland Health Care in Champaign.
She was born on July 31, 1924, in Hoopeston, Illinois, the daughter of George D. and Mary B. Thurman Betka.
Georgia is survived by a sister- Virginia Schmidt of Savoy; nephew- Stephen Schmidt of Champaign and niece- Nancy Scherer of Newport, Vermont and grand- niece Alix Schmidt of Midland, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Georgia was a member of the Hoopeston United Methodist Church. She was a dedicated Cubs fan and no doubt was watching from above as the Cubs won the final game of the 2016 World Series on Wednesday November 2. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading. She loved spending time with her friends and family.
A Celebration of Georgia "Jo" Betka's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2016, at Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston, with Pastor Cathy Najmon officiating. Burial will follow the service in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
