Hazelene (Smoot-Davidson) Emery

Hazelene (Smoot-Davidson) Emery, 84, of Danville, formerly of Westville, passed away at 4:33 a.m. Sunday, September 9, 2018, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, in Danville.

Hazelene was born on February 1, 1934, in Clay County, Kentucky, the daughter of Garrett and Hazel (Robinson) Davidson.  She married William Emery Sr. on August 24, 1951, in Westville.  He preceded her in death.   

She is survived by one daughter- Kathy Jo Emery-Miller of Westville; three sons- Bill (Lynn) Emery Jr. of Catlin, Michael (Rebecca) Emery of Evansville, Indiana and David Emery of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; four grandchildren- Jennifer (Joey) Lamb, Amanda (Brad) Sashko, Karen Miller and Kayla Jo (Jake) LaFollette; four great-grandchildren- Landon Lamb, Emma and Everett Sashko and soon to be with us granddaughter “Peach” LaFollette; brother- Ralph Smoot of Carol Stream, Illinois; and special cousin and friend- Roberta Carlton of Danville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son-in-law- Jim Miller.

Hazelene was a long time member of the Westville Church of Christ and Central Park Church of Christ.  She was a lifelong faithful believer in our Lord Jesus Christ helping others to faith for decades.  She lived for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Hazelene was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed watching them play as often as she could.

A Celebration of Hazelene Emery’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at the VA Illiana Protestant Chapel, with Pastor Bob Cornell officiating.  She will be laid to rest following the services in Danville National Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the VA Chapel.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Mrs. Emery’s life.  Memories or photos may be shared with the family on her everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
