James "Jim" Norton Crawford

James “Jim” Norton Crawford Sr., 75, of Potomac, passed away at 7:54 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2018, at Country Health, in Gifford.

Mr. Crawford was born on May 2, 1942, in Abbeville, Louisiana, the son of Roy and Caledonia (Fredrick) Crawford.  He married Janis Hutchinson on August 26, 1961, in Louisiana.  She preceded him in death.

He is survived by one daughter- Angie (Tracy) Sollars of Potomac; two sons- James Crawford Jr. of Newark, Ohio and Dan (Jill) Crawford of Georgetown, Kentucky; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers- Mike Crawford of Louisiana and Roy Crawford of Kansas; two sisters- Susan McChesney of Louisiana and Margaret Lee of Louisiana; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter- Anna Sollars, brother- Martin Crawford and sister- Laura Edwards.

Jim graduated high school from Liberty, Kentucky.  He worked as a compressor operator at Midwestern Gas Plant.  James was a member of the Potomac Lions Club and Potomac School Board, where he served as past president.  He enjoyed coaching Little League, golfing and was an avid LSU Tigers and Chicago Cub’s fan.

A Celebration of Mr. Crawford’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Blurton Funeral Home, in Potomac, with Pastor Karen Jersild officiating.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  He will be laid to rest in Partlow Cemetery following the services.  Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Mr. Crawford’s life.  Memories or condolences may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.blurtonfuneralhomes.com.
