SSgt David Clifton Gentry II

June 9, 1985 ~ November 18, 2017 (age 32) 32 Years Old


USMC SSgt David Clifton Gentry II passed from this life on November 18, 2017 at his home in Oklahoma, to his Heavenly home. (I John 2:25). His wife, Neanna Gentry, and his mother, Karen Gentry, were at his side. David also leaves behind his father, David Gentry I, three brothers, Rebel (Lisa), Clifton, and Ty and one sister, Salina. He had many nieces and nephews and an abundance of friends that were always happy to see him.
 

The Marine Corps was his whole life until he met his wife, Neanna. He was a "Lifer", but was cut short 6 yrs. of 20 yrs.
 

While in the service, David was deployed five times to: Iraq, Afghanistan and Japan. He received a Purple Heart for being shot in the line of duty, plus numerous service medals at home and overseas.
He also loved horses, tractors, old cars and trucks. One of his last purchases was his 1928 Studebaker. David had a "gift to gab," like his grandpa, Kenneth Piatt. He never knew a stranger. David was always there to help, even if you didn't know you needed any help. He was a "wheeler-dealer; always trying to buy, sell or trade items.
 

SSgt David Clifton Gentry II will be escorted to Potomac from Urbana Friday morning by the Illinois Patriot Guard.  Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 1, 2017, at Blurton Funeral Home, 400 North Vermilion Street, Potomac, Illinois.  Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 1, 2017, at the Potomac Cemetery.  Burial will be held at a later date.  According to his wishes cremation rites have been accorded.  Memorials may be made in his name to the Wounded Warriors.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring SSgt David Clifton Gentry’s life and his service to our country.  Memories or condolences may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.blurtonfuneralhomes.com.
