Eileen G. Prickett, 97, of Hoopeston, Illinois, passed away at 2:25 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2016 at Heritage Health.
Eileen was born on May 16, 1918 in Cheneyville, Illinois, the daughter of John and Bertha (Gamble) Prickett. She graduated from John Greer High School in Hoopeston, Illinois in 1936. She received her R.N. from St. Luke's Hospital of Nursing, Chicago, Illinois in 1941. St. Luke's is now Rush University Medical Center. In 1944 while still a student at North Baptist Seminary in Chicago, she was commissioned as a missionary to serve under Conservative Baptist Foreign Mission Society which is now World Venture, Littleton, Colorado. After graduating from Seminary, she spent most of 38 years in Central India among the Korku tribe. Eileen was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Chicago for over fifty years and current member of First Baptist Church in Hoopeston
She is preceded in death by parents, brothers; August Prickett, Lyle Prickett, Keith Prickett, Gene Prickett, Harold Prickett, Doyle Prickett and Duard Pickett, sisters; Edna Johnson, Ina Williamson. Surviving is sister-in-laws Francis Prickett and Leone Pickett and many nephews and nieces.
A Celebration of Life for Eileen Prickett will be at 11:00 a.m on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Hoopeston. Burial will follow the service at Floral Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to World Venture or First Baptist Church of Hoopeston.
