Lloyd D. Hammerton, 94, of West Lafayette, Indiana, formerly of East Lynn, passed away at 12:00 a.m. est. Tuesday May, 24, 2016, at the Westminster Village in West Lafayette.
Lloyd was born on March 17, 1922 in East Lynn, Illinois, the son of Herbert and Myrtle (Tulis) Hammerton. He married Alice (Peterson) Hammerton.
Lloyd graduated from East Lynn High School in East Lynn, Illinois. He received his bachelor's degree from University of Illinois. He enlisted in the Army. He was a financial advisor for Lehigh Stone and Indiana Agragets.
He is preceded in death by parents, wife, son; David Allen Hammerton brother; Kenneth Hammerton, sister; Vera Lawrence. Surviving is daughter Mary Jane Smiley of Orlando, Florida, four Grandchildren; Christine White, Jaime White, Jeffrey Hammerton and Alison Hammerton and eight Great-Grandchildren.
Lloyd enjoyed playing bridge, golfing and dancing. He was a member of the Lions Club.
A Celebration of Life for Lloyd's will be at 2:00 p.m on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Blurton Funeral Home, Hoopeston with Pastor Janet Longtin officiating. Burial will follow the service at East Lynn Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the Funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hoopeston American Legion and West Minster Village. The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Lloyd Hammerton's life.
