Mack J. Butterfield

Rev. Mack J. Butterfield, 83, of Hoopeston, formerly of Chicago, passed away at 1:12 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at Carle Foundation Hospital, in Urbana.
Mr. Butterfield was born on February 23, 1933, in Mounds, Illinois, the son of William and Cynthia (Leek) Butterfield. He married Dorothy (Owens) Green on February 22, 2000, in Danville. She survives.
He is survived by one daughter- Shirley Spradling of Chicago; five sons- Mack Butterfield Jr, David Butterfield, Robert Butterfield, William Butterfield all of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Kevin Wishecoby of Chicago; two step-sons- Roger Green of Williamsport, Indiana and Gary Green of Danville; one sister- Betty Grace of Paducah, Kentucky; 27 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter- Carolyn Thomas, two infant sons, two brothers and eight sisters.
Mack attended school in Metropolis, Illinois and later attended Bible College. He worked as a minister in the Chicago area for several years and also at several body shops. Mack loved to preach Gods word and win souls for the Lord. He was a devoted husband and father. He loved people so much and tried to be a helper to people in need. He loved his little doggies and they loved him so much. He also enjoyed singing and making things pretty. Mack will be very much missed.
A Celebration of Rev. Mack J. Butterfield's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2017, at Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston. Burial will follow the service in Floral Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital. The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Mr. Buttefield's life.
