Anne (Burke) Duncan

Anne Duncan, 84, of Potomac, passed away at 10:26 a.m. Sunday, June 16, 2024, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, in Danville.

She was born on December 14, 1939, in Urbana, Illinois.  She married James Ronald Duncan on November 26, 1959, at the United Methodist Church, in Potomac.  He preceded her in death on May 9, 2021.

She is also survived by one daughter- Jane (Kevin) Collins of Ogden; two sons- James (Annie) Duncan II of Newark, Ohio and John (Joyce) Duncan of Auburn, Illinois; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law- Loretta Burke of Potomac and Joyce Stimak of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother- William Burke.

Anne graduated from Potomac High School and attended Illinois State University, in Bloomington.  She worked at Biggs Motor Company, in Potomac as a secretary and for over 30 years in the Vermilion County Assessor's office, until her retirement.  She was a member of the Middlefork United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and Red Hats Society.  Anne was very involved in the church and played the piano in the church.  She also served as an EMT for close to 30 years for Middlefork Ambulance.  She enjoyed hummingbirds, gardening, puzzles, reading, playing cards and watching orioles in her yard.  Anne also loved to go on vacations and do anything that involved being with her family.

A Celebration of Anne’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2024, at the Middlefork United Methodist Church, in Potomac, with Pastor George Desmond officiating.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday, at the church.  Burial will follow the service in the Potomac Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Middlefork United Methodist Church.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home, in Potomac, to assist them in honoring Anne’s life.  Condolences may be shared with the family on her everlasting memorial page at: www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
