Arthur Wagoner Obituary

Arthur Major Wagoner, 68, of Hoopeston, passed away at 11:49 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at his home.

Arthur was born on March 26, 1954, in Danville, the son of Orville and Alice (Broome) Wagoner.  He is survived by his two daughters- Melissa (Bill) Crose of Hoopeston and Betsy (Jerod) Peters of Rossville; six grandchildren- Brennan Crose, Bailey (Gabby) Crose, Brielle Crose, Jacob Peters, Aubrey Peters and Jadyn Peters; one brother- Raymond (Shirley) Wagoner of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sisters- Anise Bertram of Asheboro, North Carolina and Joanne Elliott of Hoopeston; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law- Gordon Bertram.

Arthur graduated from Hoopeston Area High School, in 1973.  He worked at Joan or Arc, in Hoopeston, for 28 years and later at McLane’s, in Danville, for 16 years, until he retired.  Arthur was a member of the Prairie Green Church of Christ.  He was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing and hunting.  Arthur also enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s sporting events.  He enjoyed gardening and was very well known for his spices, seasonings, and salsas that he would give to people.  Arthur would spend a lot of time going antiquing with his mom Alice.  He also enjoyed taking the grandchildren to school everyday and picking them up, as well as taking Betsy’s dogs, Dixie and Louie outside every day. 

According to his wishes cremation rites will be accorded by the Blurton Funeral Home.  Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2022, at Floral Hill Cemetery.  Memorials may be made in Arthur’s name to the Vermilion County Animal Shelter.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Arthur’s life.  Condolences may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
