Barbara June (Vandenberg) Schwartz

Barbara June Schwartz, 78, of Hoopeston, passed away at 7:55 a.m. Monday, August 30, 2021, at Accolade Healthcare of Paxton on Pells.

Barbara was born on May 19, 1943, in Danville, Illinois, the daughter of Wilbur and Bertha (Lichlyter) Vandenberg.  She married Ronald H Schwartz on January 16, 1962, at the Cheneyville Church of Christ.  He preceded her in death on January 30, 2009.

She is survived by one son- Ronald (Min) Schwartz Jr. of Eugene, OR; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers- William Vandenberg of Texas and Robert (Mary) Vandenberg of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son- Benjamin J Schwartz, step-sister- Connie Horner and step-mother- Edith (Tuttle) Vandenberg.

Barbara graduated from Ambia High School.  She worked as a hairdresser and home business owner as well as various managerial positions in Hoopeston and Danville.  She grew up working on a farm and enjoyed doing crafts, gardening, hospice and volunteering for the share food program.

Cremation rites will be accorded, and she will be laid to rest in Danville National Cemetery, next to her husband Ronald Sr.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston, to assist them in honoring Barbara’s life.  Condolences may be shared with the family on her everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
