Beatriz Castillo Obituary

Beatriz Castillo, 78, of Hoopeston, passed away at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at Carle Foundation Hospital, in Urbana.

Beatriz was born on December 4, 1939, in El Pozo Bendito, San Luis Potosi, Mexico, the daughter of Nemesio and Rosenda (Servin) Castillo.

She is survived by her daughter- Bertha Hinojoa of Hoopeston; grandchild- Erin Hinojosa of Hoopeston; siblings- Aurelia Castillo, Pedro Castillo, Ignacio Castillo, Felix Castillo, Margarita-Guillermina Castillo, Santiago Castillo, Juana Castillo, Maria de Jesus Castillo, Benito Castillo, Susana Castillo, Maria Eleazor Castillo, Nicolas Castillo and Maria del Refugio Castillo; step-mother- Brigida Gonzalez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Beatriz was the eldest daughter of Nemesio and Rosenda.  She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.  Beatriz was a two time cancer survivor.  She enjoyed playing bingo, gambling, sewing, taking pictures and she was known for her tamales.  Beatriz worked as a babysitter in Hoopeston for many years and her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family. 

A Memorial Mass for Beatriz Castillo will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 19, 2018, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, with Father Joel Phelps officiating.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.  The family have entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Ms. Castillo’s life.  Memories or condolences may be shared with the family on her everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
