Carmen L. Hoskins Obituary

Carmen L. Hoskins, 61, peacefully departed this world to be with her Lord and Savior.  Born and raised in the heart of the countryside, Carmen was a gentle soul whose patience, kindness, and unwavering faith touched all who knew her.

Carmen met the love of her life through a best friend, and they shared a special love that blossomed from a prom date to a beautiful enduring marriage of 28 years.  A true partner to her beloved husband, Kim, Carmen found happiness in life’s simplest moments: bike rides under sunlit skies, fishing trips that spoke to their shared love of nature, and working side by side to build the home they cherished. Her steadfast patience shined brightly as she and Kimbo built their life together, plank by plank and dream by dream.

Carmen dedicated 32 years of loyal service to Depke Welding, where her loyalty and grace left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike. Beyond her work, she found profound joy in nurturing young hearts as a devoted Sunday school teacher, imparting lessons of faith and love that matched her own deep belief in the goodness of God.

Family and friends remember Carmen's love for Coca-Cola and her legendary sweet tooth, which brought an extra touch of joy to every gathering.  Her laughter and gentle humor warmed every room, and her quiet strength was a constant source of support to those around her.

During her final days, it was Kimbo’s comforting voice and the soothing strains of contemporary Christian music that offered her peace and strength. Carmen’s serene spirit and loving heart will be forever remembered by those she held dear.

She will be deeply missed by her loving spouse, Kim; her cherished sons, Joseph and Jesse; her beloved stepdaughters, Kristin and Ashley; her father, Ed; and her devoted sisters, Jackie and Tracey. Carmen’s memory will also live on through many other family members and friends who were blessed by her kindness and gentle spirit.

Though her voice is now silent, the lessons Carmen imparted and the love she shared will echo in the hearts of those she touched. The family finds comfort in knowing she is now in the arms of her Savior, watching over them until they meet again.

A celebration of life to honor Carmen will be held on Saturday, November 23 at 11am at

Blurton Funeral Home, 400 N. Vermilion St, Potomac, IL.  In lieu of flowers, Kim kindly asks for donations to their home church to continue the legacy of faith and compassion that Carmen embodied: Garden Grove Baptist Church 18131 Stromberg Ave. Brooksville, FL 34604.
