Obituary
Carol Ann Powell, 69, of Potomac, passed away at 8:54 a.m. Thursday, December 15, 2022, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, in Peoria.
Carol was born on March 30, 1953, in Traverse City, Michigan, the daughter of Elmer and Beatrice (Nolan) Gauthier. She married Kenneth Powell on May 15, 1971, in Traverse City, Michigan. He survives.
She is also survived by one daughter- Kristina Powell of Potomac; two sons- Eric (Angela) Powell of Newbern, Tennessee and James Powell of Potomac; two grandchildren- Kaileigh and Jonathan Powell; two brothers- Lloyd (Jean) Gauthier of Traverse City, Michigan and John (Joanna) Gauthier of Ferndale, Michigan; two sisters- Alysia (Bill) Taunton of Florida and Jean (Merle) Rodenborg of Mikado, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother- Harvey Gauthier and sister- Adeline Gauthier.
Carol graduated from high school, in Glen Lake, Michigan. She worked as a CNA for 23 years, at Country Health, in Gifford. Carol was a member of the Potomac Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed reading, collecting animals, doing puzzles, feeding hummingbirds and traveling. Carol also loved Christmas and going to yard sales and thrift shops. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
A Celebration of Carol’s Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2022, at the Potomac Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Randy Holden officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Thursday, at the church. Following the services cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to the Potomac Church of the Nazarene or the Vermilion County Animal Shelter. The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home, in Potomac, to assist them in honoring Carol’s life.
