Clyde Dwight Tomblin Obituary

Clyde Dwight Tomblin, 74, of Hoopeston, passed away at 7:31 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Heritage Health, in Hoopeston.

He was born on September 15, 1949, in Champaign, Illinois, the son of Johnathan and Wilhelmiana (Hays) Tomblin.  He married Dianne Vance on November 22, 1999, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.  She survives.

He is also survived by three daughters- Lisa (Richard) Parsons of Knob Noster, Missouri, Christy (Darren) Byers of Hoopeston and Sharon (Steve) Baker of Hoopeston; son- Randy (Becky) Tomblin of Hoopeston; step-daughter- Misti (Tim) Schaefer of Alexandria, Virginia; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters- Joanne Rodriguez of Detroit, Michigan and Nadine Coffin of Fisher, Illinois; sister-in-law- Pierrette Tomblin of North Judson, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers- Kenneth, Russell, Dale and George Tomblin and one sister- Shirley Gill.

Clyde served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969.  He worked for over 30 years at DM Fertilizer/Crop Production Services, until his retirement.  He was a member of the Hoopeston American Legion Post 384 and VFW Post 4826.  He enjoyed working and piddling around in his garage and working in his yard.  He also enjoyed spending time with his family.  Clyde and Dianne also enjoyed spending their time traveling to different places.

According to his wishes cremation rites will be arranged.  Visitation will be from 10:0 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston.  Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Floral Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Adam Talbert officiating and military honors conducted by the Hoopeston American Legion and VFW.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.    The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Clyde’s life.  Condolences may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
