Connie Lou (Huffman) Nelson

Connie Lou Nelson, 73, formerly of Potomac, passed away at 1:26 p.m. Thursday, November 22, 2018, at Accolade Healthcare of Paxton.

Connie was born on May 15, 1945, in Danville, Illinois, the daughter of Dale and Alice (Livingston) Huffman.  She married David J. Nelson on February 14, 1965, in Potomac.  He survives.

She is also survived by her mother Alice Huffman; brother- Dale (Lynn) Huffman of Urbana; sister- Glenda (Doug) Thompson of Luxemburg, Wisconsin; niece- Jamie (Michael) Ellars; nephew- Zach (Jen) Huffman; and six great-nieces and nephews- Natalie, Callie, Dillon, Aiden, Elliot and Lucas.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and father.

Connie graduated from Potomac High School in 1963.  She started her career at Chanute Air Force Base where she met her husband Dave. They moved to Minneapolis, where she worked for 28 years as an executive assistant at Honeywell.  Connie finished her career at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, until her retirement.  She enjoyed collecting cookbooks, shopping, reading and playing the piano.  Connie loved and cherished her family and was very generous to all of them. 

A Celebration of Connie’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at Blurton Funeral Home, in Potomac, with Pastor Randy Holden officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  She will be laid to rest following the services in Potomac Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Connie’s life.  Memories or photos may be shared with the family on her everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
