Dale Melvin Wilken, 59, of Gifford passed away at 4:34 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2025, at Carle Foundation Hospital, in Urbana.
He was born on September 27, 1965, in Urbana, the son of Melvin and Kathy (Severins) Wilken. They survive. He is also survived by one son- Nathan (LeeAnn) Wilken of Wheelersburg, Ohio; granddaughter- Emma Rideout; two brothers- Darren (Daile Doman)Wilken of Gifford and David (Amy) Wilken of Armstrong; three nephews- Tyler (Spencer) Wilken, Trey (Trenaty Layton) Wilken and Justin Wilken; niece- Katelyn Wilken; and several aunts, uncles and cousins who were like siblings to Dale.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents- Anna and Lammert Wilken and maternal grandmother- Marie Fruhling.
Dale graduated from Armstrong High School in 1983. He has spent the past decade employed in general maintenance at Rantoul Foods, following previous positions with PDI and Eagle Wings. Dale was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gifford, as well as a founding and former board member of the Loda Truck and Tractor Pull Association. His interests included gardening, deer hunting, collecting eagle memorabilia and toy tractors, and attending truck and tractor pulls. Dale had a strong work ethic and willingness to assist others, and he loved to socialize and spend time hanging out with his friends while enjoying a cold beer.
A Celebration of Dale’s Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the Blurton Funeral Home, in Potomac. Burial will follow the service in Partlow Cemetery, in Armstrong. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Dale’s name to Gift of Hope.
