Obituary

Darlene Weidig, 71, of Hoopeston, passed away at 9:27 a.m. Thursday, February 9, 2023, at home with her family by her side.

Darlene was born on February 26, 1951, in Danville, the daughter of George Luther and Grace May (Bryant) Cross. 

She is survived by two daughters- Angela Rutledge of Roberts and Heather (PJ Bailey) Bailey of Hoopeston; eight grandchildren- April, Michelle, Megan, Kaydence, Carter, Kinzley, Kambrey and Kaizley; nine great-grandchildren; one brother- Ray Cross of Paxton; three sisters- Paula (John) Bruns of Potomac, Jamie Fitzsimmons of Urbana and Janice Cross of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, sister- Maggie Wright and brother- Steve Cross.

Darlene worked as a bartender at the Fairmount Lounge.  She enjoyed playing bingo and going to the riverboat.  She also enjoyed sewing, fishing, mushroom hunting and being on her computer.  Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren and her dog Pixie.

According to her wishes cremation rites will be accorded and there are not any services scheduled at this time.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston, to assist them in honoring Darlene’s life.  Condolences may be shared with the family on her everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
