David Bryan Davis, 59, of Fithian, passed away after a long and courageous battle of Multiple Sclerosis on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
David was born on May 18, 1966, in Urbana, the son of Charles Marion and Mildred “Kathy” Kathleen (Turner) Davis. He was a 1984 graduate of Armstrong High School. On January 20, 1991, he married Lisa (Harper) Davis in Collison, and she survives.
Also surviving are his two daughters, Kaylee (Michael) Andrews of Fithian and Ashley (Dustin) Murphy of Danville; three grandchildren, Makenna Andrews, Kason Andrews, and Cooper Murphy; one sister, Debbie (Bob) Phillips of Moweaqua, Illinois, three aunts and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his special uncle, Glenn Davis. David loved to play hard and work even harder. Having worked at SuperValu until he had to medically retire at which time he opened and operated Alternative Heating (a multi-year 3-star Quadrafire dealer) mainly selling corn burning stoves. Often times telling the ladies, the mahogany finish made them burn hotter. He was also a certified chimney sweep. Even after MS made him wheelchair dependent, he took great pride in pouring concrete statues to earn his ice cream money. David loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and riding his Harley. He was a past member of NWTF‑IL Wheelin’ Sportsmen. He and Lisa donated handicap blinds to two state parks opening up accessible hunting for others to enjoy. David cherished time with his dogs and found his greatest joy in being with his family—especially his grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2026, at the Blurton Funeral Home in Potomac. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Jim Davis officiating. Burial will take place in Stearns Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the MS Society. The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home with arrangements.
