David W. Smith, 66 of Rossville, passed this life peacefully at home, Monday, January 25th at 11:30 a.m. He was born on August 18th, 1954 to Herbert A. (J.R.) Smith, Jr. and Iona (Rife) Smith, who proceeded him in death. He was a graduate of Rossville-Alvin High School in 1974. He is survived by his brothers; Mark A Smith and R. Grandchildren; Kole, Dominick, and Kingston Smith, Austin Daugherty, Alexis Daugherty, Alexia McPheron and Lauren Warfel, also many nieces, nephews, cousins and one treasured aunt; Ina (Rife) Griffin.
David worked for the Village of Rossville for 20 plus years, drove semi-trucks for several different companies, farming and had his own hauling business for a while. He liked 4-wheelin’ and jeeps, workin’ on vehicles, fishin’, huntin’, liked to collect arrowheads and geodes, loved music, and was ornery to his core, which was part of his charm. Dave loved to tell jokes and stories; some were even true. But he loved to laugh and spend time with his grandsons, friends and family. He traveled with the Greely Whit Band in their heyday, as a roadie and sound tech. and was the only guy with an afro in Rossville.
Dave loved to tell jokes and stories; some were even true. But he loved to laugh and spend time with his grandsons, friends, and family.
Special Friends: Amber Morgeson, Matt Harris, John Mullen, and Tammy McFadden.
