Donna Kay (Putnam) Carpenter, 66, of Potomac, passed away Friday, April 16, 2021, at Carle Foundation Hospital, in Urbana.
Donna was born on August 18, 1954, in Morgan County, Indiana, the daughter of George “Shorty” and Grace L. “Vernie” (Neff) Putnam. She married James Carpenter on July 23, 1983, at the #10 Church of Christ. He survives.
She is also survived by her son- Nicholas Putnam Carpenter-Applegate of Champaign; granddaughter- Angel Applegate; three brother- Bob Drake of Cincinnati, Ohio, William Ray Norman Indianapolis, Indiana and Jon Stotts of Louisville, Kentucky; sister- Stella Patton of Indianapolis, Indiana; and aunt- Bernice Poyer of Collison.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Donna graduated from Armstrong High School, in 1972. She worked as a florist for several years, as a manager at Brash Flower Shop and later owner/operator of Nature’s Garden that later became Donna’s Flower Shop, in Potomac. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, in Royal. Donna was very active in community organizations and she loved helping and giving to the community. She enjoyed fishing and riding with Jim on the motorcycle. Donna never knew a stranger and loved her family very much, especially her son.
Cremation rites will be accorded and there will be a memorial service held at a later date. The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Donna’s life. Condolences may be sent to the family on her everlasting memorial page at: www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
