Dorothy M. Lawson, 92, of Hoopeston, formerly of Rossville, passed away at 8:43 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at home.

Dorothy was born on April 23, 1930, in Gibson City, Illinois, the daughter of Aaron Estel and Elva (Bray) Yaden.  She married Walter H. Lawson on October 13, 1946, in Rossville, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on December 8, 2001.

She is survived by two daughters- Donna (Bill) Mills of Rossville and Karin (Denny)McCool of Dewey; twelve grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son- Walt Mike Lawson, daughter- Wanda Jean White, two brothers- Jim and Cecil Yaden and three sisters- Kathleen Schroeder, Helen Hartman and Stella Irene Cox.

Dorothy worked at Quaker Oats, in Danville, until her retirement in 1995.  She was a member of the Rossville Church of Christ.  She was also a member of the AMVETS Auxiliary and Hoopeston American Legion Auxiliary for 30 years.  Dorothy enjoyed playing bingo, sewing, quilting, reading and walking.

A Celebration of Dorothy’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston, with Pastor Gary Milton officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.  Burial will follow the service in Rossville Cemetery.  Memorials may be made in Dorothy’s name to Tradition’s Hospice.
