Elva E. Combest, 75, of Armstrong, passed away at 11:18 a.m. Monday, November 30, 2020, at Carle Foundation Hospital, in Urbana.
Elva was born on December 3, 1944, in Urbana, Illinois, the daughter of Walker and Kathleen (Wilmeth) VanLaningham. She married Paul Combest on May 25, 1963, in Rantoul. He survives.
She is also survived by her daughter- Paula Combest of Armstrong; grandson- Tyler (Lorna) Farmer of Royal; and great-grandson- Briar Farmer.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Elva graduated from Rantoul High School, in 1962 and attended Eastern Illinois University. She attended Ogden Church of the Nazarene. Elva was known as Nanny to lots and lots of people. She loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Illini.
According to her wish’s cremation rites will be accorded. Due to current health concerns private graveside services will be held at Maplewood Cemetery, in Rantoul. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Ogden Church of the Nazarene. The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home, in Potomac, to assist them in honoring Elva’s life.
