Fonza “Fonzie” O. Rigsby, 89, of Hoopeston, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Heritage Health.

She was born on August 1, 1936, in Glasgow, Kentucky, the daughter of Henry Otis and Maudy Pearl (Savage) Lawson.  She married Mitchell Rigsby on February 13, 1954, in Kentucky.  He preceded her in death on July 29, 2004.

She is survived by four daughters- R. Darlene Rigsby of Hoopeston, Kathy (Bill) McCann of Milford, Sandra (Kim) Potter of Milford and Lisa (Bart) Miller of Mt. Zion; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and niece- Linda Barr of Phoenix, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother- James Robert Lawson.

Fonza worked for over 20 years at Time-O-Matic/Watchfire, in Danville, until her retirement in 2002.  She enjoyed walking at the civic center, playing euchre and visiting with family and friends.  She devoted her entire life to raising her children and family.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Floral Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Tom McCann officiating.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, at Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston.  Memorials may be to Iroquois Memorial Hospice.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Fonza’s life.  Condolences may be shared with the family at: www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
