Gary Neil Mockbee, 81, of Jamesburg, passed away at 12:22 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2024, at his home.
He was born on September 10, 1943, in Danville, the son of Cleo and Dallas Irene (Holt) Mockbee Sr. He married Patricia Ann Hunt in 1965, in Danville. She preceded him in death on December 21, 2020.
He is survived by three daughters- Melinda (Tommy) Wininger of Rossville, Angela (Jason) Sefrhans of Paxton and Michelle (Casey) McQuinn of Paxton; seven grandchildren- Marcus Crozier, Kristen Crozier, Neil Schroeder, Kobe Sefrhans, Kya Sefrhans, Brayden Geyer and Lyric Key; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son-Rick Mockbee, brother- Cleo Mockbee Jr. and sister- Carolyn Mockbee.
Gary served in the United States Army. He worked for over 30 years at Hyster, in Danville, until his retirement. Gary enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, mowing his yard and helping area farmers part-time. He also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
A Celebration of Gary’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the Blurton Funeral Home, in Potomac, with Pastor Raymie Gordon officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in the Potomac Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
