Georgia Louise Hawker, 87, of Oakwood, Illinois, died Thursday, January 14, 2021 In Danville, Illinois.
Georgia was born on March 11, 1933, in Danville, Illinois, a daughter of George and Dolly Willett. She married Lawrence Hawker on April 18, 1949 in Danville. He preceded her in death in 2015. Surviving are three sons and one daughter: Jerry (Pam) Hawker, Danville; Garry (Kris) Hawker, Potomac; Gene (Carissa) Hawker, California; and Kathy (Ron) Phelps, Danville. Two sons preceded her in death: Larry and Tommy. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who she loved dearly.
Georgia and Lawrence owned and operated Circle H Riding Stables in Danville for many years. Georgia served as a 4-H Leader for the Proud Horsemen 4-H Club for over 30 years. She was a charter member of the I and I Roundup Association, which consists of several horse clubs throughout the area that participate in horse shows and trail riding. Georgia was a long-time member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church.
Georgia loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She loved them dearly and enjoyed family gatherings with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren gathered around. Her family invites you to celebrate her life at her visitation on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 from 1:00-2:00 PM at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Danville, IL. A Funeral Mass will begin at 2:00 PM. Due to the current health conditions masks and social distancing will be enforced. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Westville, IL. Memorials may be made to the Amy Hawker Memorial Fund, 207 Payne Street, Danville, IL 61832, which was established after Georgia’s granddaughter, Amy, died as a result of a horse riding accident. The fund is used to purchase and donate riding helmets for people involved in horses and showing in our area.
