Gordon “Bill” Robert Hoskins, 91, of Potomac, passed away at 1:57 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2024, at the VA Illiana Healthcare Systems, in Danville.
He was born on September 2, 1933, in Potomac, Illinois, the son of Harry Walter and Eva Waunita (May) Hoskins. He married Juanita Yvonne Rigby on October 22, 1983, in Potomac. She survives.
He is also survived by three daughters- Tammy Hadley of Colorado, Wendy Hoskins of Georgetown, Illinois and Marla Churchill of Lebanon, Indiana; two sons- Kim (Carmen) Hoskins of Florida and Scott (Monica) Gruel of Gautier, Mississippi; three brothers- Harry “Pete” Hoskins of Terre Haute, Indiana, Richard “Dick” Hoskins of Potomac and Harold (Marilyn) Hoskins of Imperial, Missouri; two sisters- Eva (Lee) Flack of Pence, Indiana and Esther (Don) Adams of California; sister-in-law- Pauline Hoskins of Alvin, Illinois; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons- Gus and Todd Hoskins, son- Jimmy Waldman and four brothers- John, Adam, Albert and Lester Hoskins.
Bill served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956. He was very proud of the time that he served in the Navy. Bill was a member of the Potomac American Legion. He loved being outdoors, watching westerns on TV, tractors and he loved his cat- Stumpy.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 6, 2024, at the Blurton Funeral Home, in Potomac. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home. According to his cremation rites have been arranged. Memorials may be made in Bill’s name to the Potomac American Legion.
