Gwendolyn G. Brown, 79, of Hoopeston, passed away at 3:20 p.m. Friday, August 17, 2019, at Accolade Healthcare, in Paxton.
Gwendolyn was born on November 11, 1939, in Lincoln, Illinois, the daughter of Ralph and Beulah (Tyler) Glover. She married Roy Brown on June 16, 1957, in Danville. He preceded her in death on January 14, 2008.
She is survived by one daughter- Marcia Lee (Monty) Simmons of Hoopeston; sisters- Marcia (Larry) Smith of Hoopeston and JoAnn Binkley of Urbana; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son-Roy Scott Brown, six brothers and three sisters.
Gwendolyn worked for the telephone office for several years and later owned the Darb-Brownie Lunch Counter, with her husband Roy, until her retirement. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and she loved her entire family.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at Floral Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Tom Cici officiating. Memorials may be made to the Hoopeston Animal Shelter. The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston to assist them in honoring Gwendolyn’s life.
