Jerry G. LaMar, 73, of Westville, formerly of Rossville, passed away at 2:59 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2018, at Carle Foundation Hospital, in Urbana.
Jerry was born on November 11, 1944, in Rossville, the son of Vernon and Laverna (Dukes) LaMar. He married Phyllis Van Driessche, on June 20, 1980, in Danville. She survives.
He is also survived by three daughters- Mindy Burchett of Coweta, Oklahoma, Missy (Randy) Nelson of Wagoner, Oklahoma and Tammy (Charles) Frakes of Porter, Oklahoma; two sons- Brian (Lynda) Alexander and Freddie (Dawn) Alexander of Summerville, South Carolina; one brother- Les LaMar of Cayuga, Indiana; two sisters- Judy Riley of Danville and Joyce (Greg) Fisher of Plainfield, Indiana; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jerry served in the United States Army, from 1969 to 1971. He worked at ESCO for several years, until his retirement. He was a member of the Rossville American Legion. Jerry enjoyed camping, dancing, playing cards and pool and spending time with his family.
Graveside services for Phyllis and Jerry LaMar will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2021, at Rossville Cemetery, in Rossville, Illinois, with Pastor Raymie Gordon officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #210. A Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion Post #210, 201 Prospect PL, Danville, IL from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 15th, 2021. According to his wish’s cremation rites have been accorded. The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Mr. Lamar’s life.
