Jerry Don McConkey Obituary

Jerry Don McConkey, 73, of Armstrong, Sunday, August 4, 2019, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, in Danville.

Jerry was born on July 22, 1946, in Loudon County Tennessee, the son of L.C. and Flora (Smallen) McConkey.  He married Patricia Sartin on December 5, 1975, in Sweetwater, Tennessee.  She survives.

He is also survived by three daughters- Tammy McConkey of Mansfield, Illinois, Kim Lewis of Champaign, Illinois and Barbara (Joseph) Tripodi of Kenosha, Wisconsin; two sons- Tommy McConkey of Champaign, Illinois and Darrel (Sheri) McConkey of Armstrong, Illinois; one sister- Flo Clark of Lenoir City, Tennessee; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson-Dustin, one brother and one sister.

Jerry worked for Laborer #703 in Urbana for several years.  He enjoyed working on cars, fishing and drinking coffee while watching his TV shows.  Jerry was a great storyteller and loved telling a good ghost story, talking about aliens or conspiracy theories.

Cremation rites have been accorded and there are not any services scheduled at this time.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home, in Potomac, to assist them with honoring Jerry’s life.  Memories or condolences may be sent to the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
