Jimmy “Jim” Dean Gay, 85, of Danville, passed away at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2024, at the VA Illiana Healthcare System, in Danville.
He was born on February 5, 1939, in Tilton, the son of Sylvestor P. and Lottie (Lovell) Gay. He married Cassandra “Sandy” Watrous on July 11, 1977, in Kansas City, Missouri. She preceded him in death on February 24, 2013.
He is survived by a daughter; two sons; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two children, six brothers and six sisters.
Jim served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963. He owned Jim Gay Mobile Home Repair for several years, until his retirement. He loved fishing, watching wrestling and boxing, working in his yard and he loved his dogs. Jim loved helping other people, especially delivering food to those in need.
According to his wishes cremation rites have been arranged and graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 9, 2024, at Danville National Cemetery, with full military honors conducted my American Legion Post #210.
