Johnny R. Ault Obituary

Johnny R. Ault, 83, of Rossville, passed away at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2024, at his home.

He was born on September 26, 1940, in Collison, Illinois, the son of Joe and Lois (Dosey) Ault.  He previously married Rose Mae Vaughn, in 1958, in Salina, Tennessee.  She preceded him in death on March 17, 2019.

He is survived by daughter- Debbie Ault of Panama City Beach, Florida; son- David (Bridget) Ault of Rossville; three grandchildren- Brittney (Zach) Hagley, Jacob Ault and David Jeremiah Ault; two great-grandchildren- Raelynn and Alec Hagley; two sisters- Mary Butts and Sharon Ault both of Urbana, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son- Johnny Douglas Ault, two brothers- Jim and Raymond Ault, sister- Nellie Jordan and infant sister- Shirley Lynn Ault.

Johnny graduated from Armstrong High School.  He worked at Urbana Pure Dairy/Prairie Farms, delivering milk, where he first delivered in a horse and wagon.  Johnny was the owner/operator of Ault’s Hauling for over 15 years, and he also worked as a truck driver until his retirement.  He was a very prominent figure in youth baseball in the Champaign-Urbana area in the 70’s and 80’s.  Johnny was also a highly respected minister of the gospel.  He currently served as a trustee for Ross Township.  Johnny loved being outdoors in nature, spending time with his friends and collecting various items.  He was also an avid Bears, Cubs and Illini fan.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2024, at the Blurton Funeral Home, in Potomac.  Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Manns Chapel Cemetery, with Pastor Dan Mikel officiating.  Memorials may be made to the Bismarck Men’s Club in Johnny’s name.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home, in Potomac, to assist them in honoring Johnny’s life.  Condolences may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
