Jose Luis Cabrales Sr.

Jose Luis Cabrales Sr., 69, of Hoopeston, passed away at 5:35 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at Carle Foundation Hospital, in Urbana.

Jose was born on August 8, 1953, in San Antonio, Durango, Mexico, the son of Julio and Lina Cabrales.  He married Gloria Rivera Gomez on December 9, 1974, in Jose Maria Morelos, Durango, Mexico.  She survives.

He is also survived by four children- Jose Luis (Jessica) Cabrales Jr. of Hoopeston, Gabriel (Martha) Cabrales of Hoopeston, Humberto (Gloria) Cabrales of Scipio, Indiana and Julio (Leeann) Cabrales of Milford; nine grandchildren; one brother- Javier Cabrales of Duncan, Oklahoma; and three aunts- Ofelia Cabrales of Laredo, Texas, Juliana Cabrales of Laredo, Mexico and Naty Cabrales of Austin, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jose was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.  He enjoyed farming in Mexico, working on cars and spending time with his family was the most important thing for him.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston.  According to his wishes cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation.  Memorials may be made in Jose’s name to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Jose’s life.  Condolences may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
