Kylah Leeann Showalter, age 9, passed away peacefully in her parents’ arms on August 22, 2021.

Born on August 13, 2012, Kylah’s love of water, sunshine, and shimmering, iridescent lights led her parents, Chris and Sarah Showalter, to believe in her mermaid aspirations. Kylah preferred spending her time either in water or outside with the sun on her face. Of course, nothing could compare to both of these conditions being simultaneously met.

Kylah also loved listening to music, especially tunes that featured high-pitched sweet sounds. She adored windy days, cuddling with her feline companion, loud Disney movies, and giggling with her friends.

Despite being a night owl who enjoyed staying up far past her bedtime, Kylah received care through Potomac Grade School. Naturally, her favorite therapy sessions included music.

Kylah’s large family will miss her terribly. Her surviving family members include her parents, Chris and Sarah Showalter; her grandparents, Diana Wilkus, Jeff Wilkus, Terry Wilkus (Sandra Potter), and Michael and Linda Taylor; siblings Teri Wilkus (Jason Kettner), Paige Showalter (Mike Mottier), Kirstyn Showalter (Jake Harris), Wyatt Showalter (Bianca Guerra), Haelyn Crawley, and Olivur Gherna; niblings Fin Kettner, Dylan Creech, and Asarija Showalter; and special friends Trent, Ryan, Nicholas, and Maci Childers as well as Rhiannon Wilkus.

Kylah is preceded in death by her grandparents Roger and Mary Showalter.

The family is holding a small, private celebration of life on Saturday August 28th.
