Lula N. (Froedge) Lewis Obituary

Lula N. Lewis, 89, of Hoopeston, passed away at 7:56 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Heritage Health, in Hoopeston.

She was born on August 8, 1935, in Edmonton, Kentucky, the daughter of Ernest and Ordria (Phelps) Froedge.  She married Elmer F. Lewis on January 12, 1950, in Danville, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on November 20, 1998. 

She is survived by one daughter- Connie (Jim) Staton of Hoopeston; one son-Steve (Sandy) Lewis of Hoopeston; six grandchildren-Aaron (Ashlee) Lewis, Wayne (Renee Chandler) Propes, Jayme (Shane) Gallagher, Monica (Greg) Duncan, Willy (Brenda) Staton and Andy (DeeDee) Staton; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters- Ruby Summers and Dorothy Piercy and grandson- Eric Lewis.

Lula worked for over 25 years at Scranton Industries, and she later worked at Hoopeston Hospital Country Terrace Nursing Home, in the housekeeping department.  She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.  Lula also loved her job and enjoyed keeping a nice home. 

A Celebration of Lula’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.  She will be laid to rest following the services in Floral Hill Cemetery.  Memorials may be made in Lula’s name to Heritage Health Nursing Home.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Lula’s life.  Condolences may be shared with the family on her everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
