Marcella Strawser Obituary

Marcella E. Strawser, 82, of Rossville, passed away at 11:07 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2018, at Carle Foundation Hospital, in Urbana.

Mrs. Strawser was born on September 21, 1936, in Armstrong, Illinois, the daughter of Marion and Viva (Watson) Falconer.  She married Richard Strawser on September 8, 1955, in Rossville.  He preceded her in death on February 10, 2005.

She is survived by two sons- Scott (Patty) Strawser of Hoopeston and Kevin (Crystal) Strawser of Alvin; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother- Thelbert (Sheila) Falconer of Rossville; one sister- Nadine (Rolland) LeClaire of Danville; best friend- Dot and John Bray of Rossville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter- Teresa Branch.

Marcella graduated from Rossville High School.  She spent most of her life as a homemaker but also enjoyed working at antique stores and helping people in Rossville.  She was a member of the Rossville Church of Christ and Rossville Historical Society.  She enjoyed ceramics, collecting antiques and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren.

A Celebration of Marcella Strawser’s Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2018, at the Rossville Church of Christ, with Pastor Kevin Purdy officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday at the church.  She will be laid to rest following the service in Rossville Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Pleasant Meadows Nursing Home, in Chrisman.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Marcella’s life.  Memories or photos may be shared with the family on her everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
