Obituary

Marcia L. Smith, of Hoopeston, passed away at 7:04 a.m. Wednesday, August 30, 2023.

Marcia was born April 23, 1946, in Danville, Illinois, the daughter of John and Beulah (Tyler) Dobkins.  She married Larry G. Smith on March 17, 1990, in Danville.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters- Michelle (Doug) Carder of Indianola and Nicole (Rich) Dye of Dalton City; sister- Joanne Binkley of Urbana; two grandchildren- Zachary and Nicolas Carder, who truly were the light of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and four sisters.

Marcia worked as a nursing assistant for over 20 years, and she loved spending time and talking to her clients as much as they loved seeing her each day.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to the Hoopeston Animal Shelter or a hospice near you.  These organizations were dear to Marcia’s heart and any support would be greatly appreciated.  Marcia will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

According to her wishes cremation rites will be arranged and a graveside service will be held at a later date.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston, to assist them in honoring Marcia’s life.  Condolences may be shared with the family on her everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
