Marilyn "Kay" (Hushaw) Cox Obituary

Marilyn “Kay” Cox, 86, of Cross Planes, Tennessee, formerly of Hoopeston, passed away at 9:16 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Tristar Hendersonville Medical Center, in Hendersonville, TN.

Kay was born on August 23, 1938, the daughter of Charles and Marveline (Simpson) Hushaw. She married Arlo “Bud” Cox on August 3, 1956, in Cheneyville. He preceded her in death on June 20, 2012.

Kay is survived by her special friend- Allen Bogard of Cross Planes, TN; two sons- Deane (Denise) Cox of Mt. Juliet, TN and Brian (Leslie) Cox of Riverside, CA; eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-Phil Cox and two sisters- Edna Rethelford and Beverly Jennings.

Kay graduated from Wellington High School. She previously worked as a medical records secretary, in California. She previously attended the Cowboy Church, in Hoopeston. She enjoyed going out to dinner, going to the movies, riding in the car through the mountains and her flowers. Kay loved life and enjoyed being around people.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2025, at Floral Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Gary Milton officiating.  Memorials may be made to the family.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston, to assist them in honoring Kay’s life.  Condolences may be shared with the family on her everlasting memorial page at: www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
