Penny Smith Obituary

Penny Ann Smith, 63, of Potomac, formerly of Paris, passed away at 6:55 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019, at her home.

Penny was born on August 6, 1955, in Paris, Illinois, the daughter of Norma Jean Pine.  She was previously married to Terrance Patrick Hodge.  He preceded her in death.

She is survived by two children- Brooke (David) Shewmake Paris, Illinois and Seth Hodge of Mansfield, Illinois; two grandchildren- Cheyenne Montgomery of Rantoul and Daely Shear of Paris, Illinois; great-grandchild- Hayven Montgomery; three brothers- Fred Pine, Chuck (JoAnne) Pine  and Branden Pine; three sisters- Susan Curry, Lynn Pine and Kari Romero; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved dogs- Rascal, Yarp and Bud.

Penny graduated from Jamaica High School and attended Parkland College.  She enjoyed gardening, Tai Chi, taking care of her plants and she was an avid reader and bird watcher.

According to her wishes cremation rites will be accorded.  There are not any services scheduled at this time.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home, in Potomac to assist them in honoring Penny’s life.  Memories or photos may be shared with the family on her everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
