Phyllis Sue (Cain) Hoskins Obituary

Phyllis Sue Hoskins, 87, of Potomac, passed away at 2:55 a.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Country Health, in Gifford.

She was born on September 1, 1937, in Champaign, Illinois, the daughter of Frawley “Bud” and Bonnie (Vermillion) Cain.  She married Richard “Dick” Hoskins on May 28, 1955, in Armstrong.  He survives.

She is also survived by three children- Cindy (Rich) Rademacher of Penfield, Shelley Hoskins of Potomac and Darren (Kristi) Hoskins of Cissna Park; five grandchildren- Justin (Kaitlyn) Rademacher, Jordan (Kendra) Rademacher, Austin Rademacher, Shelby (Tyler) Robinson and Sterling (Jaida Wise) Young; four great-grandchildren- Hailey, Weston and Jaxon Rademacher and Drayer Robinson; sister- Sandy Rogers of Savoy; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son- Tony Hoskins and two brothers- Dale and Jerry Cain.

Phyllis graduated from Armstrong High School in 1955 as the class valedictorian.  Following high school, she began working at Chanute AFB, retiring in 1988.  She was a member of the Potomac Church of the Nazarene, where she enjoyed playing the organ.  Phyllis was a sports enthusiast and a diehard Chicago Cubs fan.  She loved to go watch her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports.  She was known for her hospitality and her great cooking, especially her fried chicken and chocolate sheet cake.  In the winter season, she enjoyed traveling with Dick to Florida.  Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.

A Celebration of her Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 9, 2024, at the Potomac Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Randy Holden officiating.  Burial will follow the service in the Potomac Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, at the church.  Memorials may be made in Phyllis’s name to the Hooves of Hope.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Phyllis’s life.  Condolences may be shared with the family on her everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
