Randy Warren Newell

February 13, 1953 ~ January 5, 2022 (age 68)


Randy Warren Newell, 68, of Ridge Farm, passed away at 12:40 p.m. est., Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at The Waters of Covington.

Randy was born on February 13, 1953, in Danville, the son of Harley and Margaret (Hershberger) Newell.  He married Cathy Sollars on February 22, 1975, in Georgetown.  She preceded him in death on February 22, 2006.

He is survived by two daughters- Crystal (Newell) Cunningham of Danville and Tracy Newell of Fairmount; 11 grandchildren; two brothers- Jody (Carla) Newell of Danville and Tim (Robin) Newell of Indiana; two sisters- Saundra Brooks of Georgetown and Beverlie (Jim) Wagle of Danville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son- Randy Newell II, twin brother- Robert Wayne Newell and sister- Linda Feggett.

Randy served in the United States Marine Corp.  He worked for his whole life in construction, working for O’Neil Construction and Newell Construction, until he retired.  He was a member of the Teamsters and Labor Union.  Randy was active in the DAV and AMVETS.  He enjoyed being outdoors, mushroom hunting and enjoying a cold beer with his friends.

According to his wishes cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at a later date.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home, in Potomac, to assist them in honoring Randy’s life.  Condolences may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at:
