Rheta Leone Forrest, of Potomac died Feb. 4, 2026, at Country Health in Gifford. She was born April 26, 1937, in Cayuga, IN, to Earl E. and Violet (Kelley) Allison.
Rheta graduated from York Township High School at Raub, IN, in 1955. She completed an airline reservationist training program in Omaha, NE, and worked at Illinois Bell in Danville, IL.
She married Glen L. Forrest on June 23, 1957, and they were together for 61 years until Glen’s death in 2018.
She is survived by their three children: Wayne (the late Penny) Forrest of Georgetown; Sharita Forrest (Jim Simpson) of Potomac; and Holly (Bob) Berry of Racine, WI; a grandson and great-grandson, Joshua and Leland Forrest.
Along with her husband, Rheta was preceded by her parents; two sisters, Elsie Allison and Dorothy Ross; and four brothers, Ronald, Wendell, Paul and Russell Allison.
Rheta was a hospital volunteer for many years and enjoyed attending church, reading, crossword puzzles, oil painting, crocheting and other crafts.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 9, 2026, at Blurton Funeral Home, in Potomac. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Potomac Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Rheta’s name can be made to the Potomac First Church of Christ, 211 N. May St., Potomac, IL 61865; or the Vermilion County Animal Shelter, 14775 Catlin Tilton Road, Danville, IL 61833.
