Robert E. Spain Sr.

Robert E. Spain Sr., 86, of Potomac, passed away October 29, 2020, at Union Hospital, in Terre Haute, following a brief battle with Covid-19.

Bob was born in Potomac, Illinois, on December 5, 1933, the son of Jess and Dora (Hoskins) Spain.  Bob married Leah Ruth Cox, on April 14, 1952, in Hoopeston.  She preceded him in death on May 1, 1983.  They had three children- Robert E. (Peggy Pringle) Spain Jr., Karen (Paul) Gillespie and Thomas J. (Tina McCoy) Spain.  Bob also had 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, daughter-Karen Gillespie and friend-Carol Newman.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 2, 2020, at Blurton Funeral Home, in Potomac.  Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 2, 2020, at Potomac Cemetery, with Pastor George Desmond officiating.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Potomac American Legion.  Masks and social distancing will be enforced during the visitation hours due to the current health concerns.  Condolences may be sent to the family on Bob's everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
