Mrs. Shigeko Cartwright, 94, of Hoopeston passed away February 9, 2022.  

She was born on September 28, 1927, in Nagasaki, Japan, the daughter of Jokuzo and Taki (Tsuruta) Yamakawwa.  She married Alex Cartwright May 7, 1982, in Tokyo, Japan.  He preceded her in death on October 30, 2019.

She is survived by her stepchildren and grandchildren, Tim L. Cartwright, Sr. (Jody) of Richmond, VA; Tammie A. Greene (David) of Norfolk, VA; daughter-in-law Jane Cartwright of Myersville, MD; grandsons Tim L. Cartwright, Jr. (Kristen) of Richmond, VA, Christian Cartwright and Patrick Cartwright (Wendy) of Maryland; granddaughter Lauren K. Cartwright of Norfolk, VA; and six great-grandchildren Bradford Wilkins, Alayna Cartwright, Hadley Slayton, Adelyn Cartwright, Madison Cartwright and Alexandra Cartwright.

Shigeko was predeceased by her husband Alexander V. Cartwright, stepson Alex V. Cartwright and granddaughter Courtney Cartwright.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the Blurton Funeral Home, with Pastor George Desmond officiating.  Burial will follow the service in Floral Hill Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384 or VFW Post #4826.  Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
