Yasuko Russian

Yasuko Russian, 89, of Westville, Illinois, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2021, at her daughter’s home in Raleigh, North Carolina, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Russian was born on July 12, 1932, in Japan, the daughter of Ikugilo and Ino (Osana) Akatsuka.  She married Leonard J. Russian on December 18, 1964, in Tokyo, Japan. He preceded her in death on March 17, 1991.

She is survived by her daughter Angela (Steve) Russian Meckfessel; four grandchildren; three sisters; and several nieces and nephews. Yasuko touched so many lives along her journey and lives on in all who love and remember her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Joe Russian and a sister.

Mrs. Russian worked at Westville High School for 25 years as a kitchen worker.  She was a member of the Westville American Legion. Yasuko enjoyed reading, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Cremation rites will be accorded, and Mrs. Russian will be laid to rest in Danville National Cemetery on November 26, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. CST. Condolences may be shared with the family on her everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
